20mphsmall

History

We held out first public meeting in 2011 at Mytham School in Little Lever. Those who attended were treated to a very informative presentation by Rod King of 20’s Plenty for Us. This was well received by the audience, which included some local councillors as well as residents of Little Lever and other parts of Bolton

In order to move our campaign forward more signatures will need to be collected on our petition, and we encourage concerned people to write letters to Councillors and the local press advocating the adoption of 20 mph speed limits in residential areas. Other future events will be publicised on this website.

Our aim is for a reduction of traffic speed in all residential streets and to encourage more people to walk or cycle to local shops and local facilities.

One of the main reasons why people do not walk or cycle is that they are afraid of fast moving traffic. (Please see WSCC's Household Survey which also supports this with a figure of 43% of people replying that the roads are too dangerous for them to consider walking or cycling.)
